The Digital Design program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in digital publishing positions.
The content includes enhanced practical experiences and design principles in computer generated art and text, graphic design, graphic production, electronic design skills, preparation of electronic layouts and illustrations, electronic scanning, and development of specialized skills in both print and web page development. Software used in the course is Adobe Creative Cloud―Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and also Word Press and Acrobat which prepares students to enter into the digital publishing industry.
Students use InDesign for creating page layout and Illustrator for drawing vector illustrations. Photoshop is used for image editing, retouching, and electronic scanning. Acrobat is used for readying materials for print, and Word Press is used for Web page design. As students prepare for employment as digital publishing assistants, design technicians, illustrators, freelancing, and print media artists, they gain broad understanding of planning, time management, leadership, finance, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, and safety and environmental concerns. Students prepare for Adobe Certification and continuing higher education. Students who complete this program are eligible to articulate to State College of FL and receive credit for work they completed in their Suncoast program.
Students are encouraged to participate in SkillsUSA. This organization plays an integral part in the program by reinforcing specific career and technical skills.
This full time program is offered day time only, and approximately 12 months (1200 hours) in length.

Reading, math, and language competencies are pre-assessed. The required basic skills grade levels are Reading-9, Math-9, Language-9, and must be met prior to program completion.
