HOW TO ENROLL

Program Content:

Digital Video Technology prepares students for the exciting field of digital production where they can either continue with secondary education or directly enter the career field as a videographer, editor, production assistant, lighting director, or entry level technician.

Students will gain practical knowledge and skills for entry level in the fields of video production, television production, news gathering, and film production using current digital video equipment. The program builds knowledge in script writing, preproduction planning, scheduling, hiring a crew, camera work, lighting, audio recording, set design, studio production, field production and editing.

Laboratory activities are an integral part of this program providing instruction in camera operation, audio and video control, safety, preproduction planning and scheduling, producing, and editing. The program is designed for students to work in production crews in a real-world based curriculum. Projects provide practical application of knowledge both in the studio and in the field, script writing, and lighting design. The program is a planned sequence of courses with each knowledge base building on the previous course so students must enter at the beginning of the course year in the fall.


Program Length:

This full time program is approximately 9 months long (900 hours), and is offered day time only.


Industry Certification & State Credential Exams:

  • Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Visual Communication with Adobe Premiere Pro

Obtainment Time Frame: In program


Entrance/Exit Requirements:

Reading, math and language competencies are pre-assessed. The required basic skills grade levels are Reading-9, Math-9, Language-9 and must be met prior to program completion.
