Legal Administrative Specialist
The Legal Administrative Specialist program prepares students for employment in private law firms, clerk of court offices, corporate and judicial legal offices. Skills include Microsoft Office, legal typing and transcription, legal office procedures, business law, and legal application software. Content includes the use of technology to develop communication skills, analytical skills,
performance of office procedures specific to the legal environment, and production of quality work in an efficient manner using advanced features of business software applications.
Laboratory activities are an integral part of this program and include the use of computers, transcription equipment, peripheral equipment and the Internet.
To obtain a certificate from the Suncoast Technical College Legal Administrative Specialist program, students are required to complete 1050 hours of instruction. Students also will be prepared to earn official certifications in various computer applications used in the legal field.
Students who complete this program are eligible to articulate to State College of Florida and receive credit for the work they completed in their STC program.
Business Technology Education (BTE) Core (OTA0040) is a core course which should be completed prior to the Legal Administrative Specialist Program.
The Legal Administrative Specialist program takes approximately 9 months (1050 hours) to complete. It is offered both full and part time.

Reading, math, and language competencies are pre-assessed. The required basic skills grade levels for the Legal Administrative Specialist program are Reading-10, Math-10, and Language-10 and must be met prior to program completion.
